How can I change the screen size on LCD TV so that I can see my computer desktop linked via DVI to HDMI? - dvi interface

I have an HP digital entertainment center connected via DVI-HDMI to my Yamaha AV receiver to my Sony LCD TV HDMI. I can barely see the edge of my desk. I have tried to change the video settings on my TV and the resolution on the computer. Nothing worked. Thank you!
